Los Angeles, California – December 4, 2023 – Epirus announced today the appointment of Aerospace and Defense and technology industry veteran Andy Lowery to Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Lowery succeeds Ken Bedingfield, one of Epirus’ earliest employees who served as CEO for the past year and spent nearly four years with the company. Over the past year, Bedingfield led the company through a series of critical milestones and achievements, most notably the successful delivery of the first IFPC-HPM system to the U.S Army, cementing a clear pathway towards delivering an operational high-power microwave capability to the Department of Defense.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce Andy as the new CEO of Epirus. With his technological prowess and decades-long track record of delivering leap-ahead technologies to our warfighters and consumers, Andy is well positioned to execute on the company’s strategic growth priorities and advance our mission success,” said Alex Moore, Member, Epirus Board of Directors and Partner, 8VC.

A changemaking entrepreneur and recognized thought leader, Lowery brings more than thirty years of leadership experience at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and defense technology solutions to the CEO role. After joining Epirus in 2021 as Chief Product Officer, he served most recently as Chief Operations Officer and General Manager, Commercial. Mick Jaggers, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense will assume the COO role.

“I am grateful to the Epirus Board of Directors for the confidence they have placed in me to lead the company into our next chapter of growth,” said Andy Lowery, Chief Executive Officer, Epirus. “I am humbled by the opportunity to lead this agile, innovative team of patriots who are relentlessly focused on driving breakthrough technology solutions to enhance national and homeland security for decades to come. With this team at the helm, the potential of Epirus technology is limitless.”

Prior to Epirus, Lowery held various executive level roles at technology startups that specialize in AI, augmented reality, deep technology and big data: Co-Founder and CEO of RealWear, Inc., the world leader of industrial head-up display wearable systems and Co-Founder of Daqri, where he pioneered mixed reality wearables for enterprise. From 2008 to 2014, he held a number of roles at Raytheon (now RTX), most notably serving as Business Area Chief Engineer for Electronic Warfare Systems where he led the team responsible for pioneering Next Generation Jammer, an advanced airborne electronic attack system. From 2004-2008, he led the development of MACOM’s high-power amplifier product lines.

Lowery is a retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander and holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne.
