U.S. House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole joins Epirus executives for facility opening

Lawton, OK—August 21, 2025— Epirus, a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security, announced today the opening of a 5,300 square foot immersive innovation facility within Lawton Fort Sill’s Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator (FISTA) Innovation Park, a leading center for technological advancement and home to the Joint C-sUAS University.

The Epirus Immersive Innovation Center (EIIC) is a state-of-the-art interactive space designed to serve as an experience center to support the use of emerging counter-UAS technologies like our Leonidas high-power microwave (HPM) technology platform and weaponized electromagnetic interference (WEMI) capability. EIIC was purpose-built to support the counter-UAS community and provides a cooperative environment for HPM and WEMI technical knowledge transfer to close the gap between engineers and end users.

By prioritizing human factors and real-world threat environments, the center provides a platform for user-centric UI/UX development and experimentation. With multiple simulation terminals, interactive control interfaces and mission planning bays, the EIIC enables users to refine operational concepts and increase the effectiveness of the Leonidas one-to-many aerial defeat capability.

U.S Representative Tom Cole (OK-4), Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, joined Epirus executives for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the EIIC.

“It’s an honor to be back at FISTA for the opening of the Epirus Immersive Innovation Center—an investment in the next generation of defense technology and our national security. As near-peer threats evolve, capabilities like Epirus’ Leonidas high-power microwave platform are essential to ensuring the U.S. maintains strategic advantage,” said Chairman Cole. “This simulation center is exactly what our air defenders at Fort Sill need to stay ahead of the drone threat and prepare for future fights. We’re pleased to see Epirus expand their Oklahoma footprint and strengthen our state’s innovation ecosystem.”

The simulation center is in close proximity to Fort Sill, home to the U.S. Army’s air defense artillery force, where Soldiers train to detect, track and neutralize airborne threats like autonomous, robotic, asymmetric drone attacks that have become a defining feature of modern-day warfare.

“Epirus is dedicated to Oklahoma and its leadership role in advancing counter-drone technology research and development,” said Hanz Heinrichs, SVP of Growth & Government Relations. “The Epirus Immersive Innovation Center is another example of bringing best-in-class technology to the Lawton area.”
